Incubus - Monuments & Melodies

Incubus is an American Grammy Award-nominated rock band, from Calabasas, California. Formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas while enrolled in high school. The band expanded to include bassist Alex Katunich (a.k.a. "Dirk Lance"), and Gavin Koppell (a.k.a. "DJ Lyfe"), both of whom were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney (formerly of The Roots), and DJ Kilmore, respectively. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States and Canada.

I saw this album from a friend of mine. I was kinda envious so bought one, since I'm an avid fan of incubus. Although I have bought this album a few months ago, I feel like posting it today when I saw it while I'm looking for a music CD to listen to. This 2 CD album was released last June 16, 2009 (Tue). The first CD has 15 songs and the second CD has 11 songs. This album contains old and new songs. There are at least 3 bands named Incubus. But, I find this band to be a lot better. And, Brandon is pretty cute.

The band’s name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams. The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose “Incubus” almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word “sex” in it. “We really didn’t want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it,” says the band.
